This Year's Route

2010 GS Adventure

Day 1 - Grand Junction, CO 7-8-2015

390 miles according to the GPS. Lots of heavy rain between Saguache and Gunnison.

Rule number one for picking a motel: it has to have a good restaurant nearby, preferably within walking distance.

Mission Accomplished: Tequila's, Good food, good drinks. Had to wait 1/2 hour at the bar before walking one block back to my motel. There are worse places to have to wait.

Tomorrow: Pinedale, WY.

Day 2: Pinedale, WY 7-9-2015

There is some really pretty country about 50 miles north of Grand Junction on Hwy 139 on the way to Rangely.

Days 3 & 4: Through Yellowstone To Chico Hot Springs

I left Pinedale, WY in a drizzling rain with the temp around 50 degrees. 79 Miles later the sun started to break out at Jackson Hole, but by the time I'd entered Teton & Yellowstone parks it had turned cold and drizzly again. But the clouds made for some great pictures.

The Tetons looked wintery.

Various thermal areas in Yellowstone.

Chico Hot Springs Hotel

Tomorrow up to Coeur D'Alene ID and then north to BC.

Day 5: Chico to Coeur D'Alene - 7-12-2015

The highlight of today's ride was at a rest stop in Montana just east of the Idaho border on I-90. I pulled in to see if the little beggers were still there. They were.

Later on:

Uh, I'm just standing here in downtown Coeur D'Alene looking cool so that everybody knows that this stupid Yamaha Virago with short pipes is my bike.

Tomorrow: Nelson, BC.

Day 6 & 7: Nelson, BC - 7-11-2015 - 7-12-2015

The good thing about riding in heavy rain is that it washes all the bugs of your boots. In pretty Nelson, BC where they tell me that this is basically the first rain they've had all summer.

7/14: Sunshine in Nelson again!

Day 8: Revelstoke - 7-15-2015

Ho, hum. Just another day riding in British Colombia.
